FAQs – Frequently asked questions
1
Reservations & Availability
How can I make a reservation (online/by phone/by email)?
You can book your stay through the contact form on our website.
Alternatively, we also accept reservations by phone or via email.
How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made at any time for the current calendar year. Starting in September, we open up booking options for the following season.
If you are planning an event or a larger gathering, we can also manually reserve a spot for you upon request—just contact us.
How do I check for available spots or time slots?
We’d be happy to check availability for you personally—by phone or email.
You can also find us on select booking platforms (e.g., Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.).
Can I arrive on short notice (without a reservation), and how does that work?
Walk-ins are generally welcome during reception hours. Since we have several campgrounds/locations within a 30-minute drive of each other, we can often find a suitable option for you if you’re flexible.
However, especially during school breaks, on holidays, and on weekends, we strongly recommend making a binding reservation before your arrival to ensure you get a spot.
Are there minimum stays or minimum nights (during high season, school breaks, or holidays)?
Yes. At certain times of the year, minimum stays apply—both for pitches and for our accommodations. These requirements may vary depending on the season, vacation periods, and holidays.
We’d be happy to provide you with this information by phone or email.
Are group reservations possible (e.g., 6 or more people), and what rules apply?
Yes, of course—groups are very welcome here.
What’s especially convenient: You can plan your stay with complete flexibility, as we offer a variety of lodging options—from pitches to cozy rental accommodations. This way, every group can find the right combination, even if not everyone wants to camp.
To ensure that all guests can enjoy a relaxing break, we ask groups to follow our campground rules—especially those regarding quiet hours, music, and consideration for others. We’re all about nature, relaxation, and a pleasant atmosphere for everyone.
Prices, Payment & Invoicing
Where can I find the current price list?
Die aktuell gültige Preisliste finden Sie jederzeit auf unserer Website:
What is included in the fee for pitches and accommodations?
The price of your stay includes use of your reserved pitch or lodging, including our restroom facilities as well as the amenities and facilities at the campground.
Water and trash disposal are also included—please note that we only accept normal household amounts of trash, and no trash from outside the campground may be disposed of here.
What additional costs might apply (electricity, shower, visitor’s tax, trash collection)?
Depending on the pitch category, additional fees may apply for electricity (e.g., based on usage or as a flat rate—depending on the selected category).
For guests at our RV park, use of the restroom facilities is an optional service that can be booked separately. We charge €4.00 per person per night for this service, and we ask that you register at the front desk.
In addition, as of July 1, 2023, the city of Albstadt has been charging a lodging tax of €2.00 per night per person aged 18 and older.
What are the payment terms (deposit, due date)?
For binding reservations made more than 48 hours in advance, a deposit may be required. This helps us make your check-in on-site faster and smoother.
Please refer to your booking confirmation for the deposit amount and due date.
What forms of payment are accepted (cash, debit card, credit card, online)?
At our location, you can pay in cash (in euros), with a debit card, or by credit card. Please note: We do not accept American Express.
For online payments, we also offer PayPal as a payment service provider.
How do I pay for my reservation?
That depends on how close your arrival date is:
- More than 48 hours before arrival: We generally ask for a prepayment via bank transfer (you’ll find the details in your booking confirmation).
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: In that case, you’ll pay the amount directly at check-in.
How do I get a summary of total costs for my booking?
We will send you a detailed quote listing all items in advance.
As soon as your stay has been paid for, we will also send you an invoice—which will again clearly list the exact breakdown of costs.
Are there any discounts (ADAC, ACSI, CampingCard, long-term)?
You’re welcome to present your CampCard at check-in—we’ll use it to verify your information.
Please note: We no longer participate in the providers’ discount programs (e.g., ADAC/ACSI/CampingCard).
Instead, we offer attractive promotions on our accommodations several times a year—with up to 50% off. You can find the current offers on our website.
Cancellations & Changes
What are the cancellation policies (time limits, fees, no-shows)?
Our General Rental Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings. These terms set forth the binding cancellation policy, including deadlines and fees.
Please note: We do not offer free cancellations, as administrative costs are incurred even in the event of a cancellation. Depending on how close the cancellation is to your arrival date, cancellation fees may range from €25 to up to 90% of the total booking amount.
A no-show (failure to arrive without canceling) is particularly unfair because we are usually unable to rebook the pitch / accommodation, thereby depriving other guests of the opportunity to stay with us. In this case, 90% of the total cost will be charged.
How do I cancel or change my reservation?
We process cancellations or changes exclusively in writing. Please simply reply to your booking confirmation email.
Is there a refund for early departure?
No. An early departure is always unfortunate, but it is beyond our control. Therefore, we do not issue refunds for early departures.
Arrival, Check-in & Check-out
What are the reception and entrance/exit hours?
The main opening hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The reception desk’s main hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What should I do if I arrive after the reception desk closes (late check-in)?
Late check-in is generally possible, but only by prior arrangement. Please contact us during business hours, preferably in writing. If you have an existing reservation, we will then provide you with the necessary information and, if applicable, access credentials.
Important: You must check in at the reception desk the following day. Please come by as soon as the reception desk opens at 9:00 a.m.
What should I do if I want to check out before the reception desk opens (early check-out)?
If you are planning an early departure, please be sure to let us know the day before during business hours.
If you need to leave unexpectedly before business hours, please follow these steps:
- Drop the key/transponder in the mailbox.
- Please include your name so we can identify your key, and briefly notify us of your early departure via email: info@sonnencamping.de.
The deposit will then be refunded at a later date, minus an administrative fee.
Is “early check-in” or “late check-out” available, and how much does it cost?
Yes, depending on occupancy, we offer early check-in and late check-out. The costs are based on the current price list and are billed as an “early check-in/late check-out fee.”
Both options can only be booked after prior arrangement with the reception desk.
Please note: For late check-out, you must check out no later than the reception closing time. If you exceed this time, an additional night’s stay may be charged.
Is it possible to enter and exit at any time of day?
Yes. At check-in, you will receive a transponder that generally allows you to enter and exit the campground at any time of day.
Please be considerate and observe the following quiet hours:

The tent pitches are not marked off into individual pitches and therefore have not been precisely measured—as a general guide, you can expect each tent pitch to be about 5 × 10 m.

Yes, we’ll make our campground plan available to you online.
Can I book a specific pitch number?
We do not offer reservations for specific pitches.

If you’re arriving in a very large vehicle, please let us know in advance so we can find the best spot for you.

Yes, in principle, an additional tent is possible. If it is used as a sleeping area, it will be charged as an additional tent (according to the current price list).

Parking & Vehicles on site
What are the parking rules (dedicated parking area, second vehicle, costs)?

If you arrive with a second vehicle, you may park it in our designated, free parking areas.
I’m coming with a trailer: Do I need to reserve an additional parking space for my car?
No. As long as you can park your car along with the trailer on your assigned pitch, no additional parking space is needed. If you do need one, free parking spaces are available.
Amenities: Electricity, Water, Waste Disposal
